Dancing for fun and friendship, mind and body
Many members of the club are positive that dancing has helped their brain health. Arthritis sufferers say they notice an improvement after just a week or two. One member says: “Wow! my wife and I can’t believe the way our lives have been changed through Scottish Country Dancing. We are moving more freely, feel more in charge of our brains and have a whole new circle of friends giving us a happy and wonderful social life.” Organiser Steve Gold says it’s a great opportunity to meet and greet other locals in a friendly, social atmosphere. “No history of Scottish Dancing? Beginners are well catered for. There are few others things that get toes tapping so you’ll soon pick it up.” Meetings are on now at the Kaiwaka Memorial Hall every Wednesday at 9.45am. This year a beginners class and a developers technique class will run at the same time, followed by a social coffee break to catch your breath before joining together for social dancing as a club. All age groups are welcome, you do not have to have a partner or even be Scottish to join! Get the brain working, the body moving and have fun doing it.
