Nats deputy rolls into town17 June, 2022 JULIA WADE
National Party deputy leader Nicola Willis dropped into Mangawhai Golf Club on June 17 to outline to locals the serious challenges the party believes are facing the country including, the controversial Three Waters bill. “It is clear that Northlanders do not want to lose control of their water assets with the government’s Three Waters reforms,” she said. “My message is simple: National will reverse and replace Three Waters. We’ll continue fighting alongside local communities up and down the country to stop these reforms.” Willis also reiterated National’s belief in the importance of investment in local roads, easing the cost of the current living crisis and how they believe Labour has failed to deliver housing for those that need it the most. “In Northland, median rents have exploded $180 per week since Labour has been in government, and there are seven times more people on the social housing wait list. It simply isn’t good enough.” The National spokesperson for finance and social investment also shared National’s aspirations for stronger economic growth and prosperity for Northlanders, ‘especially those farmers whose work puts food on so many of our tables’. “It was fantastic to be in Mangawhai last week to speak to Northlanders and to answer questions about what National would do differently.” Nicola Willis |
