Two friends, Two Views28 Mar, 2022
Two Views, an exhibition by Marion Stutz and Mel Juer, is an expressive, expansive exhibition of acrylic and oil painting, drawing and ink work from two artists who share a love of drawing, nature, and of noticing the harmony of things around them. This new exhibition at the Mangawhai Artists Gallery is full of colour, dramatic landscapes and strong interpretations of the world around us. Throughout the exhibition, visitors will find either one of the artists working in the gallery creating new work and providing the opportunity to engage and inspire. Marion and Mel first met in drawing and painting classes at the Mangawhai Artists Gallery, starting a friendship bound by enthusiasm for art, shared passion in colour and expressive work, and a common interest in the beauty of the environment. Both artists have been actively drawing and painting all their lives. They’ve lived in many countries, as well as New Zealand, fuelling their expressive journey with visits to galleries all over the world. “We both work in a loose, expressive style, with a wide and unencumbered colour palette that reflects our joyous and optimistic view of life,” says Marion. “Art plays an important role for each of us,” says Mel. “We are also bound by our combined passion to keep developing as artists and to grow in our skill and creative capacity through artistic expression.” The exhibition promises to delight, inspire and move the viewer. There will be fantastic sunsets, glorious landscapes, still life and brilliant light set against deep, raw colours of the earth. n Two Views is open daily from 10am to 3pm, Saturday March 26 to midday Wednesday April 06 at the Mangawhai Artists Gallery, 45 Moir St, Mangawhai.
