Fashion extravaganza set to sell outThe rush for tickets to Waipu’s annual Art n Tartan Wearable Art Awards kicked off on May 23. Rehearsals for the 2017 show are already under way and with the usual high number of amazing entries, it promises to be better than ever. Held in Waipu’s magnificent Celtic Barn, the show is split into three performances. Opening night is July 21 at 8pm with a 2pm matinee on the following day and the iconic Awards Night on July 22 at 8pm. Show director, Helen Frances, who returns this year after a break, has a fantastic line-up of entertainers to complement the entrants. All performances will feature a magical kaleidoscope of light and sound, music and dance showcasing the best of New Zealand creativity. Demand for tickets is always extremely high, with the superb awards night selling out within hours. Prices this year are $45 for opening night and the Saturday afternoon, with a matinee price of $20 for children up to 18 years. A ticket for Awards Night will cost $55.
