Latest funding round benefits 15 local groups

The Mangawhai Opportunity Factory (MOF) is excited to announce the completion of their fourth round of grants providing just over $46,000 to 15 local groups.

“A big thank you goes out to the community for their continued generosity in donating quality unwanted goods,” says MOF spokesperson Dianne Christensen. “Plus all the volunteers that give their time whether working in the Factory shop, collecting and delivering goods, sorting, fixing and repairing amongst the myriad of other roles people quietly carry out for the community.

MOF funds assist not for profit groups offering a social benefit to the local community. Recipients this round include: Kaiwaka/Mangawhai Scout Group (Scout Jamboree Contingent), Kindness Under the Radar (Supporting families in need), Mangawhai Activity Zone (CCTV installation and monitoring), Mangawhai Artists Group (Kitchenette in extension of gallery), Mangawhai Beach School (Onsite school counselling service), Mangawhai Bridge Club (Purchase of bridge tables), Mangawhai Domain Society (Upgrade changing rooms), Mangawhai Heads Surf Club (Club tent), Mangawhai Kindergarten (Replace carpet mats), Mangawhai Museum (Ingredients for fundraising), Mangawhai Senior Citizens (Furniture replacement upgrade), Mangawhai Tracks Charitable Trust (Timber for Boardwalk and Railing), North Rodney Blue Light (Kayaks), Otamatea Community Services (Counselling for Mangawhai), Te Whai Trust (Support services).

Diane says the trustees, staff and volunteers are thrilled to have had donations that has enabled a total of just over $200,000 to be given back to the community in grants over the first two years. “We can’t thank everyone enough and look forward to seeing more donations come through our doors.” n Mangawhai Opportunity Factory is at 5 Wood Street, Mangawhai Heads, open 7 days.

If you would like to find out more about the grants and how your group may be able to benefit, or have any queries, please email the trustees at MCOSTNZ@ gmail.com
