Sea biscuit surprise

It was all fun and games in the water recently for Mangawhai’s Bev Worsfold, granddaughter Eadie Worsfold (8), pictured right, and Cameron Scott (11) from Stillwater.

Despite the windy conditions on the day, Bev, the girls and their siblings decided to go for a swim.

“Someone bought along the sea biscuit,” recounts Bev. “But next minute it was taken by a gust. We all swam after it only to see it turn the corner and head towards the mangroves.”

After watching it disappear into the mangroves, they came up with ideas for a rescue mission.

“Cameron said she’d get the family paddle board and Eadie could come to hang onto it,” said Bev. “We were waiting for their triumphant return. They were rather proud of their achievement. It was a beautiful Famous Five kind of moment. Especially for Nan.”
