Wanted: Students with a hunger for adventure

Local youth who have a hunger for adventure and travel have an opportunity to immerse themselves in another world with a prestigious longstanding programme now open for applications.

Running for 65 years, Rotary’s ‘International Youth Exchange’ (IYE) is seeking young people aged 15-17 years who are keen to attend school, learn another language and experience the life and culture of an entirely different country, while living with a host family for a year and receiving support from Rotary.

Placements in 2023 include France, USA, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Chile and Taiwan.

Officially created in 1958 after running informally since 1930, the programme allows over 8000 students worldwide to embrace the lifestyle of a foreign country as well as be ambassadors for their own.

Students also benefit personally from the IYE, gaining fresh perspectives, resilience and maturity as well as having a special attractive bonus for their CVs.
