Inspirational guest speaker to highlight next Zonta meeting

 

Guests are welcome to attend Mangawhai Zonta’s next general meeting on April 25 to hear guest speaker Lyn Dawson (pictured), the club’s nominee for one of the 50 Women of Achievement.

Lyn’s numerous significant achievements over years of community service will form the basis of her presentation.

A role with the Books In Prisons project meant establishing a Trust to develop literacy programmes at women’s correctional facilities around the country.

She also co-founded the Peggy Purl in Your Community programme in 2012 where community groups meet to knit Peggy Squares to be made into blankets for children in need. In excess of 1000 blankets have been made so far with groups starting all the time.

More recently, Lyn’s Magnolia House proposal aims to benefit homeless and marginalised women being released from prison.
