Nominations open for Mayrol by-election

Democratic Services Manager, Sean Mahoney, says anyone wishing to stand as a candidate for the Mayor of Kaipara District Council has until noon on Friday December 22 to get their nominations in.

Nominations opened Friday November 24.

“We are encouraging anyone who wants to make a difference in the district to stand. We need a range of elected members of different ages, ethnicities and backgrounds to ensure our Council represents the diversity of our community. Anyone over the age of 18 can stand for election as long as they are a New Zealand citizen and enrolled on the electoral roll.”

Each nomination must be accompanied by a deposit of $200 (GST inclusive) which is payable by cash, cheque or bank transfer.

A candidate may submit a photograph and profile statement with their nomination paper for inclusion with the voting documents sent to electors.

Nomination forms can be collected from Council’s offices or online at kaipara.govt.nz.
