Two left feet? Learn it rightWish you could dance socially but feel awkward or uncoordinated? Mangawhai Fun-Dance Studio is the place to learn in an easy, encouraging environment with dance tutor Sandie Souter (pictured centre, in white) who has a passion for teaching social dance to beginners. With a Bachelor of Dance and a Graduate Diploma of Teaching, Sandie has worked extensively in schools, with adults, the elderly and the blind. “I enjoy watching people’s confidence grow as they master the basic steps and become relaxed with the music of all genres,” says Sandie, who teaches social foxtrot, modern waltz, rock’n’roll, jive and cha cha, along with a mix of old-time and modern music, helping students match what they hear to the steps they learn. “It’s also great for exercising the brain, keeping fit, doing something together with a partner, or just enjoying yourself.” There are six 90 minute lessons for the beginners course and, due to popular demand, the next course will start on Wednesday 28 July at 7pm. Contact Sandie at sandie.s@xtra.co.nz or see Mangawhai Fun-Dance Studio’s Facebook page for future courses and events. |
