Kaipara Art Awards calling for entries

The call is out for artists with a Kaipara connection to enter the 2022 Kaipara Art Awards. Entries are now open and close on Friday September 30, 2022 with the awards being announced in Mangawhai on Friday October 28.

“We are looking to discover and celebrate the very best in the visual arts in Kaipara,” says co-organiser Belinda Vernon. “There are two award categories of 2D work with painting on the one hand and other media (including printmaking, photography and mixed media) on the other. Sculpture and all 3D media combine as a third award category.

“In addition to winners and places in these three categories an Emerging Artist award, drawn from the three categories, will also be announced.”

“An exhibition of all entries will be on display at Mangawhai Artists Gallery and then at The Muddy Waters Gallery in Dargaville where members of the public will have their chance to vote for the ‘People’s Choice award’.”

Artists are encouraged to put their best work forward.

“Each year of the awards we discover new talent and creativity with artists developing their talent, exploring new directions and allowing their creative heart to flourish.

“The awards are inspiring and motivational and an opportunity for art to blossom. This is a chance to present your work, receive constructive feedback and to exhibit alongside the best of Kaipara.”
