News in BriefA proud moment Long-time Maungaturoto and Districts Rotary Club members have honoured Ken Littlejohn as a Paul Harris Fellow at their changeover meeting on June 30. An esteemed and very respected member of the club, Ken was presented with a lapel pin, medallion, certificate and a citation was read by David Orford. Ken has served Rotary in Auckland, and Maungaturoto and Districts and his communities for almost 30 years and is considered to be an outstanding Rotarian and citizen. Ken is the Mangawhai Linking Hands co-ordinator, a responsibility he has undertaken for the last five years. Trackies say sorry The recently announced opening of the newest track from the Mangawhai Community Park to Thelma Road North around the golf course was a little premature. There was only a brief opportunity to walk the track before the new subdivision near the northern end led to its closure. The Trackies admit they should have consulted with council first. Thelma Road North is to be extended to service part of the subdivision, and when this is complete the track will be reestablished. Ideas people wanted The Mangawhai Walking Weekend is looking for fresh ideas to keep the event all fired up – thinkers with creative ideas to connect the event with a wider audience who can inspire the walking weekend to connect with a wide audience to continue its growth. Organisers are looking for a person or persons to manage the Troubadour Trail, and a public relations whiz who could bring experience and fresh ideas to the MWW group along with managing the Facebook page. Call Dorothy 431 5950 or 0276 857205 for details.
