Worzels World - A poisonous agenda

Central Government and her agencies have made no secret of their desire for greater power by centralisation. The sticking point though has been the democratic process. Whenever such moves as the amalgamation of Councils is put to the vote the public come out overwhelmingly against such measures.

Government has learnt that in order to advance its agenda democracy must be circumvented at all costs.

In the latest move to override the will of the general public, the twin poisons of fluoride and 1080 are now to be distributed by Central Government edict. I expect the power to reject GM organisms will be the next power to be taken from local councils which are fast becoming no more than ratepayer funded administrative arms of Central Government.

It seems when decisions made by Local Government, communities, individuals or the majority of people at large that clash with Government plans, the decisions are simply made in true totalitarian fashion by a dictatorial decree.

The mounting evidence against the use of such toxins has been completely ignored by Government. Government owns Animal Control Products, the company that imports 1080 to New Zealand. New Zealand is the biggest global customer for 1080 poison. This would seem to be an obvious conflict of interest yet it is ignored by opposition parties and mainstream media.

Questions put to Peter Dunne in respect of fluoride, and Nick Smith in regard to 1080, have either been ignored or answered by way of assertion that all will be well and that they know what’s best. Nick Smith says he is ‘confident’ these moves will lead to greater efficiency. Central government has shown no increased efficiency with greater centralisation in the past.

So what’s different this time? I have no confidence in his confidence. New Zealand has been using the1080 toxin for almost 60 years at great cost and the amount of evidence pointing to its effectiveness at improving the environment is practically nil. There is however ample evidence of harm caused and this is available to anyone who is prepared to do a little research.

Fluoride, an industrial by-product, is listed as a poison. It is an offence to tip it into the sea. This will now be added to the nation’s water supply without the informed consent of the populace.

Poison by its very nature is harmful to organic life. It is designed specifically to destroy living organisms, and poison is the gift that keeps on giving. Any toxic substance produced and released into the environment like 1080 or the still-leaking radiation from the Fukushima nuclear plant inexorably find their way into the food chain and keep killing. Every poison remains toxic forever and keeps killing until eventually it becomes sufficiently diluted to become only harmful rather than lethal.

The US Centre for Disease Control tested a sample of 2500 people for traces of toxic chemical residues. One hundred and sixteen toxins were detected as being present at some level in the blood of all of those tested.

Of course only a few of these were, like 1080, designed to kill but kill they do even if it is only a side effect of their actual function. This is why, unlike silverbeet or beetroot (which I have

always regarded as poisonous), they are called toxins.

Much ado is made of gun safety yet a firearm must be loaded aimed and fired by an individual in order to kill a single living thing. Poisons on the other hand can and do kill many without discrimination. The number of people who die of cancers caused by toxins introduced into the environment can only be guessed at, yet the steady increase in death by cancer since the 1950’s would indicate that the number is significant. We should also remember that any individual can add fluoride to their diet or use a fluoride toothpaste but once this proven neurotoxin is added to the water supply it cannot be removed. Once dropped onto our farms and forests and into our food chain, 1080 cannot be retrieved.

The concept of a safe poison as fluoride and 1080 are touted to be is as illogical and oxymoronic as clean filth or a virgin whore. Yet somehow politicians think they can sell such falsehoods to the public. My message to Nick Smith and Peter Dunne is go and do a little more research before you commence poisoning those who pay your salaries.
