Having a ballA frosty winters evening was not enough to stop party-goers decked out in sequins, feathers and finery from attending Mangawhai Zonta’s 2017 Masquerade Ball at Hakaru Hall, on July 22. Parading a range of identity-disguising masks from the traditional to decorative face-paint, 150 guests warmed up the night with dinner and dancing from rock’n’roll band the Renegades. Donated items of luxury products and a variety of services were also auctioned off with all proceeds from the event going to fund Zonta’s local projects including the Spirit of Adventure Scholarships and Second Chance Study Award. - WORDS/Julia Wade & PHOTOS/Josie Gritten |
