New art gallery opensIt is with much pleasure that Mangawhai Artists announce the opening of their new gallery in Moir St, next to the Mangawhai Village Hall. To celebrate, the group will be running an exhibition and hope to display artworks from as many of their one hundred members as possible. Art will be for display and sale. “This is a limited format show to allow as many of our members as possible a chance to introduce and showcase their work,” says president Jan Grover. “And with a price cap of just $150 – cash and carry – there will be bargains to be had, great for Christmas presents but mainly a celebration of the the diverse talent within our community." Preparation has been a tremendous team effort for the artists to finally have their own permanent home in Mangawhai. Thanks go to the many helping hands who have contributed time and discounted materials, including Bill Adams, Placemakers Mangawhai, Chemwash, Handy Guys, electrician Barry Forsyth, Jakob Gruener and Margaret Fish, plus the Mangawhai Historical Society and Mangawhai Hall committee for making the building available. Opening exhibition: From Small Beginnings. Open to the public daily 10am-3pm from Sat December 19 to Sun January 10. Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years |
