Rising stars at the TavernMusic and art figure prominently in our area beginning in schools and, in some cases, taking many of our younger generation to worthwhile careers on the national and even international stages.
Three young ladies are at present finding their ways, together and individually, not only on the local stage but with a promise to go much further. Singer-songwriters Mollie Harvey, Molly Curnow and Avya Grace have been seen entertaining locally at school galas, hotels, markets and in the Smokefreerockquest, and next Sunday will combine in an afternoons entertainment at the Mangawhai Tavern. The girls write much of their own music, expressing their individuality, though may fill in with covers. All are self-accompanied on the guitar though Molly Curnow also plays ukulele and though they are generally solo acts, a combination of two or a trio is not out of the question in the future. This will be a really nice afternoon, showcasing the great young talent in Mangawhai. Make an outing of this unique opportunity to spend an afternoon showcasing three young rising stars. For those not aware, Sunday afternoons are family afternoons at the Tavern. The food is good and the music is free so your support of local talent would be much appreciated. n Where: Mangawhai Tavern. When: Sunday afternoon Dec 11. Cost: Free. Koha appreciated.
