Folk trio ahead of the packOld Maungaturoto local Chris Dent is coming home with his indie-folk band Albi & The Wolves to perform at the Paparoa Hall, December 12, and Mangawhai Village Library Hall, December 13. Chris attended Otamatea High School and you may remember him from the school’s talent shows or from regular performances at Otamatea Repertory Theatre, or when he made it to the top 20 with one of his Smokefree Rockquest bands. Since then he’s come a long way and is now a fulltime professional musician performing with his band in Canada, Rarotonga, Australia and New Zealand. They have shared the stage with performers as diverse as Boney M, Damien Dempsy and Tami Neilson. On top of those achievements they performed at WOMAD 2020 and won Best Folk Artist Tui at the Aotearoa Music Awards in 2018. At the gig you will hear stunning violin, souring vocals, harmonies and original songs, as well as some old favourites like you have never heard them before. Altogether a world class show. Albi & The Wolves are, from left, Pascal Poggen, Chris Dent, and Michael Young. |
