Someone to share your aches and painsWe often feel sorry for ourselves when beset with aches and pains, and regardless of what brought them on we often wish we could share the discomfort to make us feel a little better. Well, now you can! A new osteopath has recently added his skills and services to those available from the Kakariki Health Shop in the Bennett’s complex at the Village. Roger Bull, part of a well-known local family, worked in various trades, generally requiring manual effort. During a bout of treatment for repetitive strain and carpel tunnel problems he decided on a change of vocation making the move froam patient to physician. Living in Wales at the time, Roger was able to gain his qualifications attending university in the English Midlands where he also had contact with a number of professional sportspeople and their problems. “It’s a fascinating subject as there are so many aspects to it,” says Roger. “Skeletal and muscular problems may all be connected. Mechanical problems can occur from overstrain, sports injuries, that first big day gardening in Spring or simply growing older.” Finding out what causes these problems means halfway towards treating them and nobody knows better than Roger how strains and sprains can effect quality of life. His preference is for slower treatment, initially soft-tissue (massage) to free up joints rather than manipulation. Initially on returning home Roger worked for Warkworth Natural Therapies serving customers in Wellsford and Warkworth but the opportunity to work from Kakariki brings him closer to home and serving the community in which he grew up. The service is available 5 days a week though appointments are necessary. Just call Kakariki. THERAPY: Osteopath Roger Bull is back working in the community where he grew up. |
