Books online thanks to new appKaipara’s libraries are extending their e-book and audio book range so now more than 1,000 great reads are at people’s finger tips – literally.
A new app, BorrowBox, supplements the Library’s existing OverDrive system, and means Kaipara’s library users can now borrow even more books from their local library from wherever they are in the country, or even the world. More than 1,000 titles are now available to all library members in e-books and audio books through the app. Libraries manager Lisa Salter says the subscription costs for BorrowBox have been significantly reduced because the Council has worked in with Whangarei District Council. “This means we have a top-of-the-line service which is affordable for the Council, and therefore ratepayers,” she says. “The system’s easy to use. Anyone can simply come into the Library and we’ll show them how to get started, or go to our website and sign up. All it takes is a pin number, and you’re there. It’s also free to join,” she says. The app can be downloaded onto almost any device, making reading even more accessible. “The success of our OverDrive e-book system shows that people don’t necessarily want to come into the library to get hard copy books. They want borrowing books to be easy. We’re about making it easy to read a good book, anytime, anywhere, and with BorrowBox e-book users have an even better range to choose from.” |
