Museum golf fundraiser on horizon

Friday March 11 is a day to be noted on the 2016 calendar for sportsmen and women who love an outing at the Mangawhai Golf Club and who will enjoy doing something at the same time to support a great community asset – the Mangawhai Museum.

That date has been set aside for a major fundraiser on the museum’s annual programme and the golf tournament being organised will feature prizes and auction items.

Christine Bygrave, chair of the Mangawhai Museum and Historical Society, said the museum has had a successful eight months from the time of its opening in December 2014 and is attracting an increasing number of club and school groups from as far away as south and west Auckland, as well as families and individual visitors.

The museum is self-funding, and an essential part of its ongoing operations is an annual calendar of fundraising events to contribute to the revenue earned by the museum so it pays for all its operations.

The museum is seeking sponsors and donations of prizes and auction items for the golf tournament. Anyone who may have a contribution to make to the tournament and thus to the museum can contact Christine (09) 431 2057 or Gillian Hill 021 055 0156.
