Explore with Paddle at the PubOur most precious commodity is there to be enjoyed. For adults, if you’re not into bowls or golf why not try something new and different and take advantage of the beautiful harbour we have at our doorstep?
Aotearoa Surf would like to entice more people into the sport, young and old. There are so many parts to ‘surfing.’ It’s not all about catching the big waves, it’s about having fun on the water. Every Thursday after work Aotearoa Surf run ‘Paddle at the Pub’ alternating between the Mangawhai Tavern and Mangawhai Boating & Fishing Club. “This is a fantastic thing for people in the community to do to get together socially after work and enjoy an exhilarating activity every week,” says main man Che Burnett. “We finish up paddleboarding with a social get-together and drink at the Tavern.” Aotearoa Surf are committed to providing ongoing paddle boarding and surfing experiences for the community whilst attracting new visitors to the area. Che expects other paddle boarding groups from Kerikeri, Whangarei and Auckland will also attend ‘Paddle at the Pub’ in coming months. “The best part?” says Che. “Paddleboarding is an all year round sport. You don’t get wet and even winter provides fantastic paddle boarding expeditions with clear days and calm waters.” To try paddle boarding for free get involved and book online via the Aotearoa Surf events page. And here’s a reminder for the littlies. Their after school program starts this week. Mini Surfers Club 4-6yo, every Monday 3.15pm to 4pm for 8 weeks. Mini Surfers learn about surfing, paddling and water safety.
