Good things, and good food, take time

Another example of people looking to escape the pressures of the Big Smoke has worked to the advantage of Maungaturoto residents as Kimberley and Murray Partridge became new owners of the former Sunshine Organics shop, now known as Whole Life Organics.

Though they took over officially before Christmas, while dealing with the holiday trade the couple have been busy making some major changes, including a cafe with a menu offering a variety of healthy foods and coffees, and with a pleasant rural view over rural Maungaturoto.

Kimberley has a background in chefing, beginning her food service career in the US. She was the owner of a caterig company known as ‘The Heavenly Taste’, catering for the rich and famous in Los Angeles. In 1994 she became the head chef for a chain of natural food cafes in Hawaii.

Aware of health issues, gluten free lasagne, pizza, muffins, homemade hummus, cheesecake and even dairy-free custard, tofu ribs and no-meat sausage rolls are an example of the variety of foods now available, and exemplify extra effort put in to preparation for a more discerning range of diners.

Kimberley stresses that the focus is on how their food is made, prepared and presented.

“We are wanting to create an experience through our food and ambience,” she says.

Husband Murray is happy being the ‘gofer’ but is pleased Kimberley can put her years of experience to good use in a growing community.

Food apart, around the shop is a wide range of products to suit a growing clientele. “Mercantile” says Kimberley, obviously proud of the variety of available homeware, skincare, beauty products, hand crafted candles, Shuzi jewellery, health foods, and produce.

They have also introduced NVT, Nano Vibrational Technology, a new health system for all the family and even your pets.

The shop even smells healthy!
