Ball firmly back in tennis clubs courtMangawhai Tennis Club celebrated its two newly resurfaced courts at club night on Thursday July 29. With the old surfaces more than 20 years old, the club decided to take on the daunting task of replacing the courts. “Everyone pitched in and with the help of the community, a tractor, Carters forklift and Shane Cullen Contracting, the old courts were repurposed, some to Maz and the Domain, some to a dairy farm, and maybe some for home putting greens,” said club spokesperson Ngaire Evans. Tiger Turf brought new turf and 25 tonnes of sand, and the new courts were laid. “It couldn't have been done without the careful management of annual subscriptions, and the generous help of Pub Charities and Tara Iti Golf Course too,” added Ngaire.
