Worzel's World: Surfing the tsunamiNo matter which way you look at it, and there are plenty, the world is in a state of flux. There is a tsunami of change upon us and more is coming. Those who study bible prophecy see the book of Revelation playing out before their eyes. Those who read the papers and watch the daily news are told we are in the grip of a deadly global pandemic and that the chickens of climate change are at last coming home to roost. Our government is still operating under a state of emergency which began in early 2020 and must be the longest emergency in New Zealand’s history. America, supposedly the most powerful nation on earth, has an Alzheimer’s patient as President. When Obama held that lofty title there were concerns by those who follow such things that when some of his speeches were played backward subliminal satanic messages were revealed. Forward or backward, Biden’s speeches reveal no sensible messages at all. Some assert the US elections were rigged. If they were this would be an absence of democracy. If, however, Biden was legitimately elected this would be far worse. This would be an absence of sanity. One way or another it doesn’t look good for the Free World. Very little is as it should be and nothing is as we might hope it could be. We can live in denial of what is happening and pretend that there will be some sort of return to ‘normal’, whatever that might mean. Do this and your destiny is disappointment. We can talk and write and be in fear of an unknown future that we know will be different but which is yet to be revealed. We can describe the size and shape of the tsunami and let it dominate our thoughts. I have tried my best to tell you about what is coming but I cannot tell you how or when it will come to pass. What do we do? We can put our trust in government, in the medical industry, in drug companies, in our own knowledge and resources. All of these offer promises of peace and safety that are not theirs to bestow. All these will fail. I put no faith in them and refuse to allow all the external turmoil to upset my internal peace. In spite of what I am told by talking heads on screens and disembodied voices on radio about the awful state of the world of men, each morning I open the door and see again God’s good green earth it still looks pretty fine to me. I do lament the undermining of middle-class culture here in New Zealand. The idea of a global central government does not appeal to me. I resent the general rise of evil in the world and the apparent ascendancy of those who wield power over those who have little. We must be truthful and admit that change is not always for the better – though it is always exciting. What is coming may comprise some of the greatest challenges in human history. For those who enjoy a challenge, and I do, this should be fun. If you imagined that the best of what this life has to offer was comprised of leisure and pleasure, entertainment and self-fulfilment, you have been led astray into delusion. If, however, you like the rush of walking on the edge, the requirement to put faith in an unseen God and step into an unknown future, you are in for a treat. It is now that your time has come. There are those too who think it fun to find solutions to difficult problems, for them the fun times are here. I am presently busy waxing my metaphorical surfboard and plan to ride the tsunami of change as best I can. If I make it to the foot of the mountain then Alleluia, praise the Lord. If I fall off and drown (for there are no guarantees), then I went down doing what I enjoy best. I often think it might have been nice to have been a knight errant in the Middle Ages, or a pioneer in the early days of New Zealand or America. Even today some aspects of my life have more in common with these than perhaps a corporate executive living in New York. For this I am grateful. However, if you believe, as I do, that there is purpose in this craziness we call life, then it is impossible to escape the conclusion that if you are reading this you were born for such times as these. We were meant to be here at this time in this place in the story of humanity. All that remains is that we play the part that we were meant to play with honesty and integrity. There is nothing new under the sun – times and people change, but God and Truth does not. n FEEDBACK: profworzel@gmail.com What is coming may comprise some of the greatest challenges in human history.
