Bike bus has positive flow-on effect
A growing group of Mangawhai kids have saddled up their two-wheelers and joined forces as a ‘bike bus.’

Facelift for grand old lady
True to the edict that history repeats, the historic Mangawhai Tavern is now under new ownership.
Two of the new owners, Rick Smith and cousin Angela Ferrier, have a deep connection with the tavern, with their grandparents being former owners, and Rick’s parents also ran it for a time after them. The pair have fond memories of the tavern which – in its heyday, with its picturesque waterfront location – was the popular place for locals to meet and relax.

Worzels World - Message sent, message received
The billboards appeared overnight like irregular mushrooms in a by-election mist: ‘Send them a message’ said Winston.
I am deeply cyni-cal about such stuff but I couldn’t help smile. I don’t think I could have composed a more effec-tive slogan than that if I'd taken a week to think about it. And I usually reckon I can.
