Linford and mcKenzie claim titlesWhangarei athletes Harry Linford and Ady McKenzie made it two wins from two events when the Potter Electrical Heads 2 Hub Run/Walk, the second event in the Sport Northland Run/Walk Series was held at Mangawhai last Sunday.
Linford and McKenzie were well clear of the rest of the field in the 8.5km event and already both runners have a clear lead on the Potter Electrical Leaderboard which tracks points from the Sport Northland Run/Walk Series. Linford completed the course in 30.19 with Greg Morris and Chris Mills finishing in 31.51 and 32.28 respectively. Ady McKenzie continued to dominate in the women’s event finishing in 33.54 from Sally Jackson (Wellsford) 34.42 and Carolyn Younger (Whangarei) in 35.20. First home in the men’s 5.5km event were Whangarei runners D’lane Martin in 23.54, Todd Ogle 26.09 and Jack Perrow 27.50 while in the women’s division Donna Stewart 29.26, Emma Hutchinson 30.15 and Angela Vercoe 30.40 were the first females home. Fine weather and the lack of wind made ideal conditions for the competitors who finished at The Hub where a large crowd gathered for the prizegiving. All Northland adults who competed earned an entry in to win the Mazda 2 from Pacific Motor Group which will be drawn after the final event in the series, the Kerikeri Half Marathon on November 21. Shannon Taylor of Whangarei was the winner of the major spot prize of a bike from My Bike Whangarei while the iPad mini from NorthCloud was won by Hammer Toka also from Whangarei.
