A grand awakening for WellsfordA 1930’s chaise lounge, a New Zealand Chippendale-made 1840’s upholstered seat, a collection of glass demijohns and numerous small items of glass, china, antiques, retro, collectables and gifts – all at Vintageous at 142 Rodney Rd in Wellsford and open this week.
Noreen Matthews, a Wellsford resident with a wealth of experience in retail and collectable items, will manage the shop during part of the week. Scott McDowall, a Visual Arts graduate from AUT, whose family have regularly holidayed in Mangawhai for many years has worked with his family to collect and research many of the items. Scott has also worked in aspects of the design and presentation of the shop. With resources in Auckland, the McDowall family are also able to search for items requested by customers and bring them to Wellsford at reasonable prices, usually below those set in larger centres. Scott’s parents both grew up and attended school in small North Island towns where their families were involved in banking and business. At Vintageous, we will look forward to serving the people of Wellsford and visitors to the town. <pic?> |
