Help: Our future leaders need support!Patrol leaders and assistant leaders from our local Scout troop spent a weekend recently at the Ruakaka Scout Den on a leadership course (pictured). Our Scouts have now attended several courses and workshops in the last few months – a wonderful opportunity for our children to develop skills and personal qualities. Many thanks to the group leaders and committee members who organise these activites.
Thanks also to the Kathmandu Foundation who recently granted our Scout troop heavily discounted pricing used to purchase backpacks for tramps. Our Cubs and Scouts will be providing food and drink stalls as a fundraiser at the upcoming Days of Thunder event at the RSA grounds on May 3-4. Other upcoming events for the Kaiwaka/Mangawhai troop include the Anzac Day parade at the Hakaru RSA, a three day camp at Tangihua Lodge, and joining other Lower North troops for a fun mudslide day at Warkworth. We have a large number of kids on the troop waiting list and are opening another session to accommodate them on a Tuesday, 5.30-7pm at the Hakaru Den. We want to do sessions for Cubs, Keas and Scouts but we need help! If you can assist as a patrol leader, an assistant leader or just any support at all, please contact Bruce Ferguson on 431 2542 or 021 431254. - Cheryl Anderson |
