Dickies head to India

Mangawhai Combined Rebus Club’s April meeting welcomed local identity John Dickie as guest speaker.

John spoke about the house he and wife Rita (pictured) are building in the north east of India, where the climate is mild, the mountains and trees beautiful, soil red volcanic, and is in an earthquake zone.

This would account for the amount of reinforcing that went into the house! John related many amusing tales of a four year journey that wasn’t all plain sailing. Sadly John and Rita are leaving Mangawhai to live permanently in their new home in India.

The Mangawhai community wishes them all the best.
