Foster carers needed

 

There are a number of reasons why children require foster care. Similarly there are many reasons why families want to foster children.

Non-profit organisation Key Assets are looking for foster carers. These are people who are willing to open their homes and hearts to care for children who may be in care.

Carers who join the Key Assets team are given excellent training and ongoing support including a social worker and access to therapeutic support plus a generous foster care allowance. Enthusiasm, patience, resilience and dedication are some of the attributes required of those applying to become foster carers.

A foster carers own family is important to the success of the placement or, as Key Assets likes to say “it is the whole family that fosters.” 

Most of the children have high and complex needs because of their previous experiences. Every foster care placement is different and this is why Key Assets needs people who represent the diversity within a community.

“Team Parenting is our unique innovative approach to fostering and involves foster carers and professionals working together in the best interests of the child.” says a Key Asset spokesperson. “It’s been at the heart of our work with children and young people from the very beginning.”
