Easter crowd goes crazy over egg drop
EGG-STATIC! A tidal wave of chocoholics is about to engulf an organiser as they race to gather air-dropped Easter eggs at Mangawhai Beach School. Somewhere between 800 and a thousand people turned out at CauseWay Church’s Helicopter Easter Egg Drop on Easter Sunday. And it wasn’t just the kids who were excited! Mums, dads, grandparents, uncles, aunties… everyone was eager to see the Ralph Schultz helicopters arrive at midday. Sure enough, right on time, the helicopter flown by Ben Schultz, arrived and 2013 golden wrapped marshmallow Easter eggs fell from the sky, covering the Mangawhai Beach School field. After a short countdown, the barriers were dropped and hundreds of chocoholics ran to collect as many eggs as they could. Like a giant vacuum cleaner it took less than a minute and the field was egg-free. CauseWay Church was delighted with the response to this free community event. “The community spirit was evident,” said a church organizer. “Those who managed to pick up a lot of eggs shared them with those who had less.” |
