Enthusiastic committee invites wearable arts entries
IMAGINATION: Wearable arts is fashion theatre on the runway. Entries are now being invited as planning for the annual Paparoa Wearable Arts Gala is off to an early start this year. Two shows are planned for Saturday August 24 – a 2pm matinee and a champagne gala at 7.30pm. A new approach this year will build on experience from previous shows using the theatrical and artistic skills of two artistic directors – Dennise Brownlie and Penny Goodall – and an experienced and innovative choreographer, Lyn Jordan. “The committee is an enthusiastic group who are going to make the event full of fun for entrants and audiences alike,” says event promoter Loraine Rowlands. “WAG is a good-humoured event aiming to be an artistic extravaganza!” Entrants will be in to win many fabulous prizes with the major prize tickets for two to the Wellington WOW show plus airfares and accommodation. All-new categories will excite creative imaginations to dizzying heights, including wearable headgear for children 12 and under, Pasifica, Bloomin’ Ridiculous, Rubbish, and World of Sci-Fi in 0pen section. Special sections Bizarre Bra and Curious Codpiece will titivate audiences! Entry forms with Information packs are available online at www.paparoa.org.nz or for enquiries contact Carolyn Skelton on (09) 431 8636, carolyn.skelton@igrin.co.nz or Betty Cairns on (09) 431 6515, bettycairns@xtra.co.nz.
