Probus: New officers elected at AGM
From Beve Smith
President Barry Lumsden was unable to attend our March 21 AGM and so Ron Lawrence opened the meeting to members and visitors.
Following general business and the election of our Probus officers for 2013 we had a lovely afternoon tea.
Following afternoon tea, which included some lovely cakes from Wendy of Cakes Delicious, Petronella introduced our speaker, Mangawhai Volunteer Fire Brigade chief Maurice Doughty. He gave us a wonderful speech on all the things volunteer fire brigade personnel do for our community. They practice every Monday night, and meet once every alternative month to discuss matters. They have to keep up a certain level of training and standards to suit OSH rules and regulations.
We are all very much aware of the amazing, outstanding and dedicated job they do for our community.
A scrap metal drive is being run to raise funds to purchase an auxiliary vehicle. For more information on this please contact Maurice on 431 5325.
