A great day out for knitters and crafters27 Mar, 2023
Its yarn and fibre time again. After the success of the first Kaipara Wool and Fibre Festival in August 2022, the 2023 event will be held on Sunday April 16, 10am–3pm. It promises a great day out for knitters, crafters and their friends or families. This event gives Northern people the opportunity to see and touch the exciting yarns and fibre from local fibre artists all in one convenient place. This is what yarn heaven looks like. The minute you step through the door you are greeted by a stunning sea of colour and texture. You’ll see stacks of yarn, mainly from NZ Indie dyers, and unspun fibre, hand/arm massage, introduction to weaving, and space to sit, knit and natter. It’s a peaceful farm setting and you'll see sheep outside in the paddocks. The selection of talented traders so far includes Wool on Wheels, Happy go Knitty, Miro Yarns, Silverhill Alpacas, Gumtree Gully, Stoneycreek Farms, Kerdon Alpaca, Dye Happy, Te Harinui Wool, Fantail Farm Mohair, Twisted Zisters, Briarpatch yarns, Fibre2go, Harnie Hoolie, Yarn Floozy, Inky Fingers and Jumbuck Carding. Plenty of parking, and cafe on site. The Maungaturoto Club is a great location for the event, with plenty of parking and a cafe onsite, located just 90 minutes north of the bridge, an hour south of Whangarei, and close to Mangawahi, Kaiwaka, and Paparoa. n The Kaipara Wool and Fibre festival 2023, Sunday April 16, 10am–3pm, Maungaturoto Country Club, 84 Bickerstaffe Rd. Free entry, gold coin donation car parking. |
