Pampered pooches make perfect petsIt’s well accepted that to lift a woman out of the doldrums there is nothing that works quite so well as a shampoo, rinse, blow dry, and having one’s nails done. Did you realise your pooch feels exactly the same way?
Such a service is now available in Mangawhai. DJ’s Dog Grooming is ready and waiting to give your pet the attention it deserves. Owner Diana Johnson has run the whole gamut of the ‘dog’ thing from obedience and agility competitions to successfully preparing and showing Pyrenees Mountain Dogs and Dobermans. She recently furthered her skills with a 16-week course in dog grooming under a master groomer. Diana caters for dogs large or small and her services range from a quick fringe trim and nails to the full treatment – hydrobath, massage and deep clean to clipping to breed standards. She is also certified in pet first aid. “This may sound funny,” she says “but at least on first visit some puppies or even older dogs can feel insecure and some anxiety as to what’s going on and can get a little uptight so it’s important to be able to put them at ease. They generally enjoy a good grooming though, just as we enjoy a massage.” Some pets just need a tidy-up to get rid of their winter coats while others, like their owners, can come back for a trim every six weeks or so. From farm dogs to show dogs, all can be carefully coiffed at 61A Moir St or call Diana on 431 4479. <<ends>> CUT & POLISH: Diana Johnson puts the beauty spotlight on Max, who now looks like Maximillion. |
