Rodney upset Mahurangi in cup win

 

In a fitting lead-up to Rodney Netball’s 50th Jubilee celebrations, Rodney College has won the annual Matoma Cup in a hard-fought final against Mahurangi College on August 11.

The Rodney girls combined effectively, and after being well up in the first quarter, held their lead through the rest of the game to upset perennial winners Mahurangi 47-35.

Started in the late 90s by Pixie Jones, the Matoma Cup is an interschool tournament be-tween Rodney, Mahurangi, and Otamatea College.
