Help purge pesky possumsPossums beware! Paparoa residents are again on the war path to rid the countryside of these pesky critters in their annual possum purge.
Now an annual fundraising event run by the Paparoa Primary School PTA this is a lesson in firearms safety for young and old, and also an exercise in the damage which possums can inflict on our protected flora and fauna. Possum diseases can also endanger the reputation of our farming industry. This is a big weekend and one in which all locals become involved and you are invited to join in so register now to be in for great prizes and great fun. Possum hunting is September 5-8 with prizegiving Sunday September 8 from 11am at Paparoa Primary School. There’s over $5,000 worth of amazing prizes for possum hunters, prizes for most possums, most hand plucked fur, best team name and lots of spot prizes. Family fun includes bouncy castle and slide for the littlies, kids competitions and sausage sizzle. Registration $10 adults. Kids free with adults.
