Something old and something new for Harvest BlueHarvest Blue Cafe & Bistro, on Bayleys cor-ner, Molesworth Dr in Mangawhai is the latest eatery to re-open under new ownership. Formerly Harvest Cafe, the ‘Blue’ ties in with the company name, Blue Groove, belonging to owners Vanessa Willem and Mike Hynes. Vanessa has experience in the hospitality industry all around the world, more recently the St Helliers Bistro, but couldn’t resist the allure of Mangawhai, a long-time haunt of Mike’s. For those who have come to know and love the establishment, Kris Malcolm will still be the chef, Emma Mason front-of-house, and a number of the same staff. Nothing beats continuity. A remodelled Harvest Blue will allow relaxed indoor seating or casual booths for friends and families or leaners outdoors. The menu will cover a variety of dietry needs such as dairy or gluten free, but the range will cover cabinet foods, tarts, salads, tapas and plat-ters “and we also have a great recipe for sticky ribs,” says Vanessa, “and an exceptional wine list including three local labels.” Updated regularly the menu will be ideally suited to family meals. From morning coffee and muffins to a crisp fresh salad lunch or something more substantial, Harvest Blue Cafe & Bistro, fully licenced, could be the spot for you. |
