Carols create visual spectacularFor many locals and visitors it wouldn’t feel like Christmas without first spending Christmas Eve with around 1300 others at CauseWay Church’s Christmas Eve Carols at the Mangawhai Rec Centre.
This year the programme will once again be filled with fun, kids, the Christmas story, and carol singing accompanied by CauseWay’s band. There is something for eve-ryone, even for those who don’t sing anywhere but in the shower. After weeks of preparation, the atmosphere created by a sea of fairy lights, decorations and stage lighting is a visual spec-tacular. It’s a strong sense of commu-nity with around 500 people at each of the 6pm and 8pm serv- ices and around 300 at the 10pm service. “There is a sense of peace amid the chaos of Christmas as you choose to take time to enjoy the evening, an ideal end to an-other year,” says senior pastor Anne Chitty. If this is part of your tradition or you have always been mean-ing to go, then plan to be early, park on the school field and get a good seat before the starting time. Don’t miss the opening, it’s always sure to impress. |
