Teens threatened for cash Mangawhai police are seeking any information the public might have about two teenage boys being threatened with menaces in the Moir St shopping area on November 15. Senior Constable Graham Gough said about mid-night two 17-year-old Mangawhai boys were accosted by a man and told he would give them “a smash in the face” unless they handed over cash. A small sum of money was handed over. The incident, which took place by the public toilets, also involved another man who was driving a vehicle, said Mr Gough. The men fled when the father of one of the youths turned up. Man arrested following burglaries A 43-year-old Mangawhai man was to appear in the North Shore District Court on December 9 for bur-glary, thanks to the vigilance of local people. Mangawhai Senior Constable Graham Gough said that on November 15 the man was arrested following two burglaries in the Atkin Rd area. A large amount of property that had been taken from the two burglaries during October and Novem-ber was recovered from his home. The man had been remanded on bail. “I would like to thank the people who called us with information,“ said Mr Gough, adding that at this time of year homeowners should take special care to look after their property. “Be sensible.Fishing rods, outboard motors, dive tanks can disappear overnight.
