New book offers pathway to healing

Donna-Flavell-Korowai-Book-Launch
HELPING OTHERS: Donna Flavell wears a family Korowai, or cloak, at her recent book launch held at the Mangawhai museum.

Being part of the health and healing industry for over 20 years, and a registered homeopath, Mangawhai’s Donna Flavell treats readers to a glimpse of her journey over the past years and how she came to create the range of 28 essences that accompany her new book Essences of D’Light.

Launched at a function in the new museum, the comprehensive book lets Donna demonstrate her belief in the power of flowers, plants and other natural elements. She educates the reader in a manner that is easily readable and understandable, showing how to stimulate and support the body’s own ability to heal itself through the power and natural healing qualities of New Zealand's native and exotic flora and fauna.

Donna says her passion has always been to help others help themselves.

“I want to reach as many people as possible looking to work though the challenges or situations that limit them in day-to-day life, and offer them easy-to-use tools, to gain the freedom to move forward with self-awareness, self-discovery and self-empowerment.”

Local healer and kaumatua, Taherama (Tahe) Hollis, acknowledged Donna for bridging the use of ancient Rongoa Maori (traditional Maori healing) with modern-day knowledge.

Two emerging artists, Aaron Allot and Madison Newman Prime from Mangawhai Beach School (whose work is featured in the book), were presented with signed copies.

Also acknowledged were the many local artists who had contributed images to the book.

With its essences, wisdom cards and now the informative and inspiring book, the Essences of D’Light programme is now complete.

Books and essences are available from Kakariki Health & Wellbeing, Mangawhai Gifts & Books, and Mangawhai Post Office. Alternatively, shop at www.essencesofdlight.co.nz
