Flashback: CauseWay's Christmas EveChristmas Eve was one of the highlights of 2013 in Mangawhai when once again over 1200 people took part in CauseWay Church’s Christmas Carols at the Rec Centre. The gym looked stunning with a canopy of fairy lights, a huge Christmas tree and other decorations creating a special Christmas atmosphere. Car after car streamed in through the maze of cones to be parked on the school field by a team of volunteers. The countdown on the big screen led into a spine-tingling version of Do You Hear What I Hear with polished drum solos and harmonies. In between singing the people enjoyed the kids’ performance, the presentation of the nativity story and the boys from Black Swamp doing their rendition of What Does the Fox Say? called What Does the Reindeer Say? with the help of Rudolph and Snoopy. Santa was also a hit, entertaining everyone with his antics and dancing. Colin Chitty spoke about the message of Christmas being “Good News” and encouraged people to see the Christmas story as it was intended – to be positive. For many this night has become their family tradition with many parents saying that their kids just love it and don’t allow them to leave Mangawhai until after Christmas Eve. One even said that they were sorry they had to wait another 365 days until the next one because they enjoyed it so much. |
