Kaiwaka movies popular

Since the handover of the Kaiwaka hall from the Kaipara District Council to the Kaiwaka community the building has been totally reclad, newly painted and a new kitchen fitted.

Last year the community group focused on getting a new digital movie set-up established and, realising sound is even more important than picture, they invested in a top quality sound system to go with high definition quality and new comfortable chairs.

The whole set-up can now also be used for conferences and PowerPoint presentations. It's very versatile using laptop and or other projection devices.

Having now screened a few movies, all comments have been very positive and encouraging as the movies are changed regularly to suit a variety of audiences.

Kids matinee The Croods screened last Saturday and was well received.

The next screening will be Friday February 21. Featuring Ben Affleck, the award-winning Argo is a political thriller based on a real story involving New Zealand’s part in the escape of six Americans in Iran during the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
