Music, mermaids and merriment in the Olive GroveThe hugely popular Mangawhai Food and Wine Festival is on Saturday March 29 and is run in conjunction with the Mangawhai Walking Weekend, now in its 15th year. Relax in The Olive Groove under the shade of the olive trees, enjoy the golden rays of afternoon sun, with an appetizing selection of delicious food from local producers, wine from our local growers, and great music and dancing galore! This year’s music is a lively trio of beautiful women with dynamic voices and glamorous style. The Mermaids Dance Band is one of New Zealand's most popular event covers bands, delivering the perfect party repertoire. The lineup features well known radio personality Joe Cotton, Pauline Berry (with a depth in the industry going back to the early 90s), and newest member Amber Claire who has achieved gold record sales. The band performs a diverse repertoire, from 1950's rock n roll to 2012 techno, 1970s disco to R&B. Hits such as the Pointer Sisters’ ‘Jump’, Tina Turner’s ‘Let’s Stay Together’ and the Bee Gees ‘Stayin’ Alive’ are sure to be crowd pleasers. So gather up your friends for some afternoon fun in The Olive Grove. Tickets available online at www.mangawhaiwalkingweekend.co.nz or locally in Mangawhai at Books & Gifts or Bammas for $25, or $30 at the gate. All proceeds from this event go to the Mangawhai Tracks Charitable Trust for the development and maintenance of Mangawhai’s numerous walking routes including signage and brochures. |
