Spanish theme for inaugural lunch eventThe Te Whai Bay Vineyard held their inaugural long table lunch on Waitangi weekend. This year’s event themed Spanish cuisine, Sangria and music by a solo guitarist. The event sold out one week prior much to the delight of the Te Whai Bay owners, Nicola Devereux and John Burt.
The event also provided lots of business for locals. Leabourns provided transport around Mangawhai and Te Whai Bay’s own transport had a run out to Langs Beach and Waipu Cove. On their arrival, 80 people enjoyed both white and red Sangria, made of course from Te Whai Bay’s Merlot and Riesling wines. Local olive oils from Echo Valley and Olives on the Hill were served with breads from the Heads Bakery and enjoyed to the overture from classical and Spanish guitarist, Ricky De Medeiros. Auckland-based La Olivia provided catering of the delicious three course meal, each course matched by a choice of two wines from Te Whai Bay’s great wine range. In typical Spanish style the food and conversation continued until dusk with many new friends made and old friendships reacquainted. Te Whai Bay will hold a similar event next year. You’ll need to get your tickets early though, this looks like another great Mangawhai event to add to the calendar. |
