Summer fundraising for ZontaMangawhai Zonta may have one of the lowest memberships in the country but it is certainly high up on the fundraising stakes.
The club’s February garage sale was a marvellous success say organisers and volunteers (pictured above) and raised just over $2000 for Zonta group local projects. Thanks to buyers going home and then returning with more goods, the group had a follow-up sale, which was held over the weekend of February 21-22. Zonta has agreed that some of the takings will be given to the Sophie Elliot Foundation for the purchase of the Love-Me-Not books which are provided on the courses run in schools for teenagers (both boys and girls) to help teach what is good and bad relationship behaviour. The club will also be making its annual Yellow Rose Award to two Waipu women who have made a significant contribution to the Waipu Community as part of the International Women's Day. Club president, Jan Barnett will be presenting the Yellow Rose Award to Jill Mutch and Juanita McGoldrick at The Cove Cafe, Waipu Cove, on Sunday March 8 at 9am. All are welcome to attend.
