More prizes for rescheduled museum golf fundraiserA fabulous array of prizes and auction items, as varied as a diamond ring, air tickets to Vanuatu, and a swimming pool, will be on offer when the Mangawhai Museum’s fundraising golf tournament is held on Friday April 4. The tournament was rescheduled after strong winds and heavy rain caused a postponement on the Friday after Waitangi Day. Mangawhai Historical Society president Christine Bygrave said it was unfortunate and regretted that supporters of the fundraiser were inconvenienced by the postponement, but the golf would not have been particularly enjoyable in the conditions, and the delay had actually led to more offers of support coming forward. “As a result of the postponement we have even more offers of prizes and auction items – the support we are receiving from the community is fantastic.’” The golf tournament is one of a number of events being held to help the museum open within the next five or six months. Christine said the fundraising will assist with the interior work underway at the museum, including some construction of walls and the building of exhibits, like a replica Auckland tram bach. Anyone who has skills in this area and would like to help out with the interior work can contact Lyn on 021 854 678. “We will value any offers of support to assist us through the final stages before opening,” says Christine. ■ Golf entries to Christine Bygrave, 431 2057, or email christinebygrave@gmail.com.
