Rates increase in Draft Annual PlanAfter two years of high average rate increases Kaipara District Council's Draft Annual Plan 2014/2015 is proposing a modest average increase of around 2.3% for the 2014/2015 year which begins in July.
The Draft Annual Plan 2014/2015 will be considered for adoption by the Commissioners at Council's Ordinary meeting on Tuesday February 25. If adopted, it will be released for public consultation on Tuesday March 4 with submissions invited up until 5pm Tuesday April 8. The low average rate increase proposed is a reflection of the continued determination of the Commissioners to run an affordable and balanced budget says KDC Chief Executive Steve Ruru. Mr Ruru said Council had signalled through the Long Term Plan that average rate increases proposed for the period from 2014/2015 to 2021/2022 would be more in line with rates of inflation. "Council has delivered on that commitment,” Mr Ruru said. The Draft Annual Plan 2014/2015 and the Summary document outline a number of areas on which Council wishes to consult with the community. Both the Summary and the Draft Annual Plan will be available on the Kaipara District Council’s website www.kaipara.govt.nz from March 4. |
