A little silver lining after accidentNatural Beauty in Waipu, run by Katie Watts, often runs a 'Good Sorts' competition on a Facebook page where people nominate someone that they think deserves some pampering. Winners get a free pamper session – manicure, facial, pedicure and general tone-up. Her pre-Christmas competition was for a generous prize worth over $200 and few winners would be more worthy than Myra Van Den Bergen. Early in December the Year 13 student was in her first week working at Northport barcoding logs when she was involved in an horrific accident, crushed by a half tonne log leaving her with internal bleeding and numerous bone breaks including arm, leg, tail bone, and hip. Home again last week after a month in hospital Myra has a lot of physio and recovery time ahead of her but is remaining positive as she works toward a full recovery. While overseas travel plans have had to be put on hold, Myra is looking forward to her pampering session with Katie, and we can’t think of anyone more deserving. |
