Community support for St John
Locals crowded the new museum foyer just before Christmas to listen to the Mangawhai Singers at their Christmas Festival of Song, a benefit evening for the local St John. Children sat on cushions on the carpet in front of the choir, and the huge Christmas tree was decorated with waves of sea colour. Just over $600 was generously donated on the night for St John. Pictured, Ambulance officer Martin Davies was on hand to receive the donations from Christine Bygrave, conductor for the Mangawhai Singers, and also president of the Mangawhai Historical Society. Organisers say a big thank you for the donations, and to Jamie at Mangawhai Hire Centre who lent new chairs for the occasion. |
